Cosmetics Non Toxic Buying Guide

Cosmetics Non Toxic Buying Guide

The overwhelming majority of cosmetics are filled with toxins that disrupt your hormones, irritate your skin and can even contribute to cancer. This is a very hard category to conquer, but we've managed to round up some of the cleanest makeup on the market. This is our running list of our favorite cosmetics.

For all of our buying guides, check out our Ultimate Toxin-Free Shopping Guide.

We don’t stock everything listed here, so you’ll find links to Amazon or other stores. As an Amazon associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you (affiliate disclosure).

Shopping for Non Toxic Makeup

This category can be challenging because we not only need to find clean ingredients, but they also need to perform well, match our skin tone, and work harmoniously with our skin type.

There are many brands out there that get close, but aren't completely toxin-free. And usually it's because they have chosen to use titanium dioxide which is one of the most popular colorants in cosmetics today. We have only included titanium-dioxide free choices in this list. If you would also like to see "low tox" suggestions that might include TD, let us know in the comments. But for now, our hunt is for the cleanest possible makeup on the market, and that includes avoiding titanium dioxide.

Foundations/BB Creams

Lips

Eyes

We're still on the hunt for titanium-dioxide free pressed powdered eye shadow. If you know of a brand, let us know!

Blushes/Bronzer

Primer and Setting Sprays

Makeup Remover

The Vitamin C Cleanser from Beauty from Bees gets everything off in one wash. If you need extra makeup removing power (for say, heavy eye makeup), use Organic Jojoba Oil with organic black cotton pads or disposable organic cotton pads). Micellar water and other makeup removers are filled with terrible ingredients and it's so unnecessary!
